About Us

Dr. Sherwood J. Franklin Welcomes you to

the Brookings Animal Clinic.

Dr. Woody is a graduate of the University of Illinois (Bachelor of Science) and the University of Illinois Veterinary School (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine).

He has excellent diagnostic skills developed from years of experience. He is beloved by his clients, many of whom have been with him since he bought the practice in 1996.

His areas of practice include small animal surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, wellness, preventative care and pet behavior training.

Dr. Woody uses conservative treatment protocols with an eye on client costs and tries to limit expensive testing. He treats his clients and their owners with old fashioned care and respect.

In the interests of client education, Dr. Woody has appeared, for 21 years and continuing, on a radio show, “Ask the Vet”. It runs every other Monday from 9:30 to 10:00 on KBRK am. The radio station takes questions at any time and Dr. Woody answers them on the show. He has also appeared on radio with Dr. Rick Holm on the topic of diseases that are transmissible between animals and humans, and has been featured several times in “Gun Dog” magazine.

Testimonials

“Woody is a very compassionate vet.  I always felt my pets were getting
the best of care at Brookings Animal Clinic.  Woody was there during
those difficult times when you must put your friend to rest, and did so
in a very gentle manner.

The other aspect I’ve always appreciated about Woody’s expertise is his
practical side, and efforts to control the pet owners cost.  He would
clearly explain the pros and cons of various treatment options.

All in all, Woody is that vet you trust to take care of your nonhuman
member of the family.”
