Dog flu is a year-around problem—mostly of middle-aged dogs. Dogs are potentially infectious for up to 3 weeks. Viral particles are easily transmitted by human hands and clothing. There is a vaccine which reduces the severity of the symptoms. Dogs that travel, go to dog showers, field trials, dog parks, and doggie daycare are at risk.
